Not too many tracks out there where you will hit "top" speed but you can get close.:biggrin

On a 600 you can hit top speed at Road Atlanta, Roebling and Nashville. :thumbup

You can top out at NJMP Thunderbolt if your gearing is right...

Anyway, top speed is somewhere in the 165mph area, give or take a few mph depending on the mods to the bike.

Now that is actual speed, not indicated speed. Indicated will be higher due to the factory speeo error.

And on the street you shouldnt be. Its 155 mph. Your speedo may be optimistic and read 165+. But youll only be doing 150-155.

06 600 with 12xxx miles, Arrow slip on with straight arrow midpipe, BMC race filter, no tune, +2 rear sprocket, GPS verified Speedohealer race plastics and a 250lb (with gear) rider. Into a headwind, 157 mph. There you go. In 2006 one of the magazines reported 157 actual on the stock bike with a tiny test rider.

A 600 is horsepower limited at its top speed. IT does not have the horsepower to push through the air. It quits before redline stock geared.

All the way to about -1+1 or -1+2 you will still get the same top speed, just at a different RPM.

This is for those wondering why you had the same top speed with +2 as a stock bike.

Stock depending on weather, horsepower, and riders tuck, will be 155-160ish...... slightly faster if you are REALLY lucky and get some help (winds or a draft)

According to GPS data, Yates was hitting 167 before grabbing the binders before T1 on his Superbike last year. For a 600 to be able to get to the same is probably reaching just a little bit with probably close to 100 less HP.

since were on the speedo topic and this thread is worthless anyways, may i ask i question?

are the factory speedos off on other bikes also?

my friend had an 09 r6 and wouldn't believe his speedo was off.

i guess i could search around online. just wondering if anyone knew?

Yes.

And for him, his Tach is likely off too (or maybe it was an 06-07 or whatver their gens go). One of the later models the tach read more RPMs than it really reved by a significant amount

so would a speedo healer be a good investment even if your gearing and stuff is stock?
