The 2022 Hyundai i30 Fastback N is poised to return to Australian showrooms in facelifted guise, with a final Limited Edition variant ahead of the i30 Sedan N's arrival later this year.

Limited to just 500 examples available to order until September 30, the i30 Fastback N Limited Edition is priced from $49,000 before on-road costs with a six-speed manual, or $52,000 before on-road costs with Hyundai's new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with one equipment level on offer.

While the first figure represents a circa-$3000 increase over the pre-facelift, manual-only $45,910 before on-road costs i30 Fastback N Luxury Pack last offered locally, the prices are $1500 more than an equivalent i30 N Premium hatch.

Power in the updated Fastback comes from the facelift hatchback's 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, sending 206kW and 392Nm to the front wheels – up 4kW/14Nm over the outgoing model (on overboost).

Hyundai quotes a 5.4-second 0-100km/h sprint time for the dual-clutch automatic variant, and a top speed of 250km/h.

Standard performance features include adaptive dampers, an electro-mechanical limited-slip front differential, 360mm front performance brakes, variable sports exhaust, rev matching, 19-inch forged alloy wheels with Pirelli P Zero HN tyres, and a slew of N drive modes.

The Limited Edition's standard equipment list matches that of the $47,500 before on-road costs Premium hatchback, including items such as a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, N Light sports bucket seats, leather and Alcantara upholstery, LED headlights, wireless charging, front and rear parking sensors, and a wide active safety suite.

However, as per the pre-facelift Fastback, the new Limited Edition appears to miss out on the blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert functions offered with the i30 N hatch.

The sole option available on the limited-run Fastback is a panoramic sunroof, for an additional $1500. Both transmissions can be had with or without the sunroof – unlike the Premium hatch, which cannot be purchased with an automatic transmission and no sunroof.

A full list of standard equipment can be found at the bottom of this story.

Available colours include Polar White, Shadow Grey, Dark Knight, Phantom Black, Performance Blue, Engine Red, and a Fastback-exclusive Sunset Red colour. Dark Knight and Phantom Black attract a $495 premium.

The 2022 Hyundai i30 Fastback N Limited Edition is available to order until September 31.

Once all 500 units sell out, the i30 Fastback N won't return to Australia, with its role instead filled by the upcoming i30 Sedan N, due in the final three months of 2021.
